2014 Intro: Shane Hynes

Clarkston (Mich.) junior kicker Shane Hynes is one of the Midwest's top kickers in his class.

Clarkston High kicker Shane Hynes just completed a successful junior campaign, where he hit six of eight field goals, including a school record 53-yarder and put 91% of his kickoffs in the end zone.

Hynes has already been hearing from a few schools and has made his way to some of them during the season.

"Just unofficial visits," he said. "I've gone to Buffalo, Saginaw Valley and they're pretty interested and I've gone to Penn State. Saginaw Valley was first, and they set the bar high. They knew who was and I talked to lot of the coaches. The head coach spent 20 minutes with me before the admissions meeting, gave a brief overview of if I would come there and the scholarship situation."

Getting to visit the Bulls also allowed Hynes to head back to his old stomping grounds.

"Buffalo was a fun place to be. We're from Buffalo, so it was a homecoming."

The most recent visit for Hynes was Happy Valley.

"This weekend at Penn State was pretty awesome. It was something special. I liked when we went into the recruiting lounge, and all fans out there were cheering them on for Senior Day."

He also noted how supportive the Nittany Lion faithful were of their school and their former coach.

"The stadium was all full of Joe Pa pictures, flowers, and support for everything going on, and I was star struck actually. I was there at a place I had seen on TV."

Hynes also camped at Toledo, where he was 12 for 12 on his field goals, as well as Central Michigan and Western Michigan.
