After playing 9 games over 10 days in Jacksonville, Florida and 11 more road games to finish out the month of March, the WMU Baseball team will finally showcase their talents in front of the home crowd.

On Friday April 2, the Bronco baseball team will open their MAC schedule and play their first home game of the season against Toledo in a 3pm start at Hyames Field. Friday’s game is the start of a 3-game set with Toledo with games on Saturday at 1pm and Sunday also at 1pm.

The Broncos have gotten off to a rocky start going 1-4 in their first 5 games and now stand at 8-12 following a Wednesday loss to #5 Notre Dame.

The home schedule this season includes games against Michigan State, archrival Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Kent State and Valparaiso. On the remaining road schedule the Broncos will face Illinois, Northern Illinois, Michigan, Bowling Green, Ohio, Ball State, Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Illinois-Chicago.

The Broncos are coached by 1964 WMU alum, and former All-American, Fred Decker who has announced his retirement at the conclusion of this season. Decker has coached Bronco greats such as John Vander Wal, Matt Meiske, Brian Sikorski, Jeff Kaiser and Scott Meyer all of whom have played in the major leagues.
