Broncos Ground the Flashes

Saturday evening in front of 800 fans the Broncos volleyball team held off a late charge by the Kent State Golden Flashes to when their 4th match in the MAC this season. In the win the Broncos improved their record to 4-3 MAC (10-8 overall).
The Broncos won the first two games of the match with scores of 30-28 and 30-27. The Flashes came from behind to win the third game 30-27 and the Broncos came from behind with a 5 point deficit to win the final game 30-26.
The Broncos were led by seniors Jessica Holly, Krista Ramsey, and Tinesha Tierney and juniors Katy Duffy and Shaylen Jackson. Holly recorded 8 blocks (2 solo, 6 assisted) and 6 defensive digs. Of the 51 sets the Broncos had Holly set up all 51 of them. Duffy recorded 9 digs of her own. Ramsey was second on the team with 12 kills to go along with her 10 digs and 2 assisted Blocks.
Tierney had 7 blocks (1 solo, 6 assisted). Jackson had 11 Kills and 4 assisted blocks while redshirt junior Abby Gephart led the Broncos in kills with 17.
For the Golden Flashes junior Danielle Holt had a match high 22 kills. Freshmen Laura Jensen outlasted the Broncos junior Schea Fissel for a match high in digs. Jensen recorded 19 digs while Fissel finished with 18.
The Broncos go on the road to play
Marshall
in Huntington,
West Virginia
on October 19 for another key MAC match-up. Marshall (4-1 MAC, 13-6 overall) currently holds down the second spot in the MAC East while the Broncos are in fourth place in the West just one match behind
Bowling Green
.
