KALAMAZOO — Junior TE Tony Scheffler and senior WS Mark Hardy have been named to the Academic All-District IV University Division Football Team, as selected by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). District IV covers the states of Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee.

As first team selections, Scheffler and Hardy will go on the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration.

Scheffler carries a 3.63 overall grade-point average as a marketing major while Hardy sports a 3.62 GPA majoring in aviation flight science.

A total of 12 players have earned Academic All-District honors during Gary Darnell’s eight seasons. The Broncos’ last Academic All-American was WR Mike Hutchings in 1998.

Tony Scheffler makes the catch against Toledo earlier this season.
