PEORIA, IL - In its final tune-up before opening league play this week, Western Michigan fell to Bradley, 2-1, in overtime at Shea Stadium. The game was delayed a half-hour by lightning and rain.

Nick Mentgen’s header just two minutes into overtime eluded the grasp of GK Brent Miller, who finished with seven saves.

WMU opened scoring in the 23rd minute when Dustin Snyder buried a shot from 10 yards out for this third tally of the season. BU pulled even six minutes later on Zach Bell’s header.

Bradley finished with a 22-16 advantage in total shots, a 9-4 edge in shots on goal.

“We played well enough to win, but couldn’t come up with enough finishing chances against a good team,” said WMU coach Chris Karwoski.

Western Michigan (3-5-1) opens Mid-American Conference play this week, hosting IUPU-Ft. Wayne on Friday (Oct. 7) before traveling to Bowling Green Sunday (Oct. 9).
