Interview: Scott Robinson

Scott Robinson

Red shirt sophomore Scott Robinson is starting at strong safety for the Broncos this fall. He has been part of a secondary that has played well this year and he talks about the season, coach Ake, and the future of the Broncos.

What are your impressions of this season thus far?
I think we are improving and getting better. We're starting to meet goals better now defensively. I think we'll continue to catch on to things more and more.

What did you take from the tough out of conference schedule this season?
I like the hype surrounding the games, it gets us hyped to play against them. I think the schedule showed us we can play at that level. We need to concentrate on the little things like penalties and fumbles. The little things are costing us, just like the Michigan game last year.

What are your impressions of the secondary play this year?
As a group we are bonding well. The preseason mags were rough on us and we had a lot of questions. None of us paid attention to it. We work hard and we knew we'd be fine.

Talk about coach Ake
I think he is a good coach that has taught us a lot of things. Technique wise he is excellent.

Who has impressed you the most this season?
Jermaine Lewis is a real playmaker. Carlos Smith I think is doing great, playing with him is great. When I was a freshman he was real good to me and it is good to be playing with him now. I think Kevin Ford will be a good one, he really works hard. Joseph Chapple is also a good one for the future and so is Ameer Ismail.

What was it about Western that brought you here?
After my recruiting trip to Bowling Green in December I verballed there. My dad went to school here and I knew the facility was nice. I just hadn't seen the campus or the student life. At the time Bowling Green was not winning and I visited here in January. The coaches here were great to deal with and that lead to my commitment. They really treated me and my family nice and at a very personal level.

What is your major?
I'm in pre-Business and am looking to get into Advertising and Promotion.

What are your goals or plans after college?
Nothing specific really, just something in advertising and promotion. My cousin works in that in the music industry and that really struck a cord with me.

What are some things you like to do away from school and football?
I just hang out with friends from Ypsilanti mainly. I'm also a computer nerd and am on the computer a lot working on web sites and working on my design ability.
