OL Pleasantly Surprises Bronco Coaches
Commitment

The Bronco offensive line was under a lot of scrutiny this past season and one player that plans to help in that area is Mount Carmel offensive guard Robbie Krutilla who verbally committed to Western Michigan yesterday.
"I committed yesterday to
Western Michigan
," said Krutilla. "Coach Darnell and coach Mike Cummings were here yesterday for an in-home visit and I committed."
Krutilla threw the Bronco coaches for a bit of a surprise though.
"Coach Darnell was talking about committing and he looked at my dad and winked and I said 'sure' and he kind of did a double take and asked me if I was serious and when I told him I was everyone was real happy," said Krutilla who is a full academic qualifier with a 2.6 GPA and a 17 on his ACT. On the NCAA sliding scale he has a 70 when a 68 is required.
Krutilla officially visited Western Michigan on December 6th and came away very impressed.
"I loved the facilities and the campus and just felt it was only going to get better," said Krutilla. "I went into the Seelye Facility and that place was amazing. I saw some photos of what it will look like when it is 100% complete and I'm really looking forward to being in there."
Krutilla is being recruited as an offensive guard but this "big ugly" has some speed that is not seen in too many big men. At 6-3 and 290 pounds Krutilla ran a 4.90/40 before the season and feels he could have been faster.
"I ran that on cement and I think if it were on grass I could have been faster," said Krutilla. "I also run a 12.1/100 meters which is pretty good for my size. I beat quite a few guys in that and it is nice to finish and look back and see some of the littler guys behind me." Krutilla also participates in track and field where he throws the shot put and discuss.
Krutilla helped lead his team to the state title this season in 5-A with a 13-1 record and he blocked for a fellow Bronco prospect in running back
Greg Owens
.
"Greg is definitely interested in Western Michigan I know," said Krutilla. "I think he is taking a visit to
Illinois
also."
Krutilla chose Western Michigan over
Bowling Green
who he visited last weekend.
"I just really liked coach Darnell in addition to all of the facilities at Western," said Krutilla. "He is a great guy and an excellent speaker. When he talks to you he really comes across as a guy that knows what he is doing. We joked around some too so I know he has a good sense of humor."
