MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - Central Michigan has earned votes in both major national polls for the second time this season.

The Chippewas (5-1 overall, 3-0 Mid-American Conference) were recognized following their 56-8 win over Eastern Michigan on Saturday. CMU received seven points in balloting for the USA Today coaches poll, while voters in the Associated Press poll gave CMU six points. Both point totals rank CMU among the top 35 teams nationally.

In both major polls, point values are assigned to each line on a voter's ballot. A No. 1 vote is worth 25 points, a No. 2 vote is worth 24 points and so on through the No. 25 spot, which is worth one point.

Central Michigan received votes in both the AP and USA Today preseason polls. The Chippewas also received votes in the coaches poll following a 29-27 win over Michigan State on Sept. 12 and in last week's poll.

The Chippewas have won five straight games since a 19-6 season-opening loss at Arizona. CMU is one of just 12 teams in the country with a current winning streak of at least five games.

CMU visits Western Michigan this Saturday. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. The game will be televised on Fox Sports Detroit Plus and on ESPN GamePlan.
