Three of the coaches have National Football League playing experience. The new coaches and their assignments are: Chuck Bullough, linebackers; Steve Morrison, defensive line/recruiting coordinator; Mike Sullivan, offensive line and Paul Williams, defensive secondary. Bullough (pronounced: BULL-ah), 36, spent five seasons with the Chicago Bears, assisting special teams (1999-03), linebackers (1999-01), the defensive line (2002) and defensive backs (2003). This past season he worked as linebackers coach and special teams coordinator at Lake Forest College. A two-time All-Big Ten selection and All-American linebacker at Michigan State, Bullough played on three bowl championship teams, including the 1987 Rose Bowl squad. He went on to a five-year career in the NFL, playing for the Miami Dolphins (1993-95) and attending camps with the Philadelphia Eagles (1992) and Indianapolis Colts (1996). Bullough later returned to State to help with defensive backs and the offense line in 1997-98. A native of East Lansing, Mich., Bullough received a bachelor’s in physical education/exercise science from MSU in 1992. He is married to the former Nicole Sequin and the couple has a three-year-old daughter, Chloe. Morrison, 33, previously coached at University of Michigan, spending two seasons as the graduate assistant in charge of outside linebackers (2003-04) and a year in quality control for defense (2002). Wolverine fans may remember Morrison as a first-team All-Big performer (1994) who ranks 10th in career tackles. After earning a bachelor’s degree in sports management and communications in 1994, Morrison played four seasons in the NFL with the Indianapolis Colts (1995-98). The Birmingham, Mich., native also served two seasons (2000-01) as defensive coordinator at Brother Rice High School, helping the Warriors to a state title in 2000. He is married to the former Mary Campana and they are the parents of two sons, Alexander (four) and Marco (eight weeks). Sullivan, 37, is a five-year veteran of the NFL, having played for the Dallas Cowboys (1991-92) and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1992-95). During his time in the NFL, Sullivan was very active in community service. He received the Tampa Bay Community Service Player of the Year Award (1993), was a finalist for the NFL/True Value Hardware Man of the Year Award (1996) and founded a celebrity fund raiser that provided scholarships for needy teenagers. Sullivan’s association with the NFL carried over to the coaching ranks. As a member of the Cleveland Browns staff, he spent three-and-a-half seasons (2001-04) as offensive assistant and half a season (2004) instructing tight ends. The Chicago native played for two national championship teams at the University of Miami, starting 48 consecutive games under coaches Jimmy Johnson and Dennis Erickson. He received a bachelor’s in business administration (1989) and a master’s in international management (1996) from Miami and spent a year as a graduate assistant with the Hurricanes (2001). From 1997-01, Sullivan coached various American club football teams in Europe. Williams, 32, has spent the past six seasons at his alma mater, the University of Delaware, coaching the secondary (2001-04), wide receivers (1999-00) and special teams. In 2003, he helped the Blue Hens capture the NCAA Division I-AA Championship. A native of Newark, Del., Williams coached two seasons (1997-98) at the University of Pennsylvania, assisting the defensive secondary and special teams. He also had a four-month graduate assistantship with the Broncos in 1997 and was assistant defensive line coach at Lafayette College during the 1996 campaign. Williams earned a bachelor’s in physical education from Delaware (1996), where he lettered four seasons and played on two Yankee Conference championship teams. He also set the school-record in the indoor 200 meters.
