| Last season Bonds was the second on the team in rushing with 225 yards on 67 carries. He took over as the kick returner in week 9 and averaged 23.6 yards on 14 returns. His 23.6 yards per return ranked him fourth in the Mid-American Conference. Against Illinois he gained 71 yards on 13 carries averaging 5.5 yards per carry. He made his collegiate in the game against Virginia Tech. Athlon had him ranked 15th on their MAC Future Star list.
In high school he became the All-Time leading rusher in Warren Central's history as well as the conference's history. Rivals.com ranked in 33rd in the country in the best backs category. Steet and Smith rated him in the Top 50 Junior's list. He earned All-Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference First Team and Bloomington Herald All-State honors.
