| Solid pass-catching tight end, Scheffler is able to aggressively position himself for the ball and make the tough catch. Smallish at tight end, he rarely lined up next to the offensive tackle. Has blocking ability, but not a powerful blocker. |

| Tony has been a maninstay on the Broncos starting offense since the 2002 season.
Last season he returned to the lineup follwoing a season that was wiped out early in 2003 when his shoulder was injured on a play at Michigan State in the first game of the season. Tony held on to the 40-yard pass from Chad Munson.
In 2004 he started 10 of the 11 games he played in and was the team's 2nd leading reciever. He caught 53 passes for 570 yard and 3 touchdowns. His 53 receptions led all tight ends in the MAC and set a new WMU record for a season. He caught six or more passes against Marshall(11), Northern Illinois(8), BGSU(7), BSU(6) and he had 5 against Miami. His 11 receptions and 133 yards against Marshall was a career day for Tony. He also caught 8 passes for 75 yards against Northern Illinois, 7 passes for 71 yards against Bowling Green, a 16-yard touchdown pass in the season opener and 4 passes for 48 yards at Illinois. His efforts earned him All-MAC First Team, Academic All-District IV First Team and CollegeFootballNews.com All-MAC selections.
In 2002 his first career touchdown reception came on just his third catch as a Bronco and went for 18 yards from Chad Munson. His first collegiate reception came in front of 107,856 fans at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor, MI. Buffalo had a hard time stopping him on kickoffs as he returned two kickoffs for 46 yards. On the season he averaged 14.3 yards a return on just 7 kickoffs. He appeared in all 12 games and was named to the MAC Academic Honor Roll.
As a freshman in 2001 he was redshirted and earned Offensive Stallion of the Week (10/8).
Tony also is a 3-year member of the Broncos baseball team. He owns a career batting average of .293 and has hit 7 home runs and drove in 41 runs in 79 games.
In high school Tony earned a selection to the Detroit News Dream Team after he caught 67 passes for a school record 1,340 (season) and scored 16 touchdowns. He helped lead the Bulldogs to a 11-1 record and a spot in the Division III Regional Finals. |
