| Biography: |
| Dana is a second-year captain. He is a power forward who drives well to the net. He bench presses 365 pounds and squats over 500 pounds. Dana holds all of the hockey team's weight-lifting records. He uses his strength to play a physical game but can also score. Dana worked as a paramedic while playing junior hockey in Olds, Alta. and on more than one occasion helped save a life. Dana's career ambition is to become a medical doctor. He also has an interest in sports nutrition. He grew up on a ranch and learned to jump horses and ended up winning several equestrian events while competing until age 15. His older brother, Dustin, plays professional hockey in England and had a stint in the WPHL. He works on his father's cattle ranch during the summer.
In his sophomore season Dana earned CCHA All-Academic Honorable Mention honors while being the team leader in goals with 19. He was tied for seventh the NCAA game-winning goals with 5. In CCHA rankings he was first in hat tricks (1), third in game-winning goals (5) and fifth in goals. He was fourth in goal scoring for conference games (14). Dana tied for second in WMU Perani Cup points. He was a three-time Bronco Player of the Week and named to the Mariucci Classic All-Tournament Team. Dana recorded a natural hat trick in a win over Ferris State at the Mariucci Classic and tied tournament records for goals (3) and points (4) in a game to earn Star of the Game honors. He tied a school record for consecutive goals in a game (3). Dana earned Perani Cup No. 1 Star of the Game with three points and the game-winning goal in a 5-3 decision over Ferris State. He scored two goals in a 4-2 win over Notre Dame to earn No. 1 Star honors. He scored a pair of pair of third period goals, including the game-winner with 5:37 left in regulation, in a 5-3 win over No. 10 Northern Michigan and was named the No. 1 Star. Dana scored the game-winning goal on a breakaway with 38 seconds left in regulation at Nebraska-Omaha and added an empty netter 19 seconds later to earn No. 2 Star honors. He produced goals in back-to-back games at Bowling Green. He registered three assists in a win over Alaska Fairbanks. He scored on a backhander while skating backwards in the slot against No. 7 Michigan and earned No. 3 star honors. He recorded two assists against Ohio State and took a career-high five shots against Canisius. Dana compiled seven points over a three-game stretch and had a five-game points streak. He was also a co-captain.
As a freshman Dana closed the season with goals in three straight playoff games. He scored two goals, including the game-winner in a 5-4 win over Dartmouth and was selected the National City Star of the Game. He scored the game-winning goal against Ferris State. He recorded two points and a plus-3 rating at Alaska Fairbanks. Dana made a nice drop pass then screened the goalie to set up Brent Rumble's goal at Ohio State. He provided the game's first goal at Michigan. Dana spent time on the second power play unit and missed four games with a hand injury. |
