DE Jason Babin: Babin To Stick on Eagles' Roster by Adam Caplan of ScoutNFLNetwork.com, September 4, 2009 at 7:32pm ET
Jason Babin Profile
The Philadelphia Eagles have re-signed DE Jason Babin to a contract
with a set of new terms, the team announced. He was originally signed by the
Eagles on August 4, 2009 and played in all four preseason games this summer,
recording 14 tackles and three sacks.
A former first round draft choice of the Houston Texans in 2004, Babin has 15
sacks in 54 career games with the Texans, Seattle Seahawks, and Kansas City
Chiefs.
A source said Babin's original one-year, $620,000 was technically terminated
first then they re-signed him to a new contact.
Currently, the team has seven defensive ends on the roster, but league sources
said that the team was looking to trade 2008 third-round pick Bryan Smith.
Smith was inactive for all 16 regular season games last season as well as all
three post-season games.
Should Philadelphia decide to keep Smith, it's unlikely he would contribute much
since he was running with the third-team defense shortly after Babin originally
signed with the Eagles back in early August.
